Terms of use

1. Who we are

RateThatJob.com is operated by ABOVO JOBS MENA L.L.C-FZ (Meydan Grandstand, 6th floor, Meydan Road, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, business license number: 2648676.01 (Meydan Free Zone, Dubai), email: hello@ratethatjob.com) ("we"). These terms apply to every visitor, registered user and employer.

2. The service

RateThatJob shows reviews of workplaces, facts (pay on time, overtime, hours, replies to applicants), job posts and a way to apply. Reviews are the opinions of their authors, not ours.

3. Your account

  • You need an account to review, apply, follow workplaces, report reviews and vote them helpful. You sign in with a code we send to your email address; there is no password.
  • Public pages only show the display name you choose. Your name and contact details are never shown, and employers never learn who wrote a review.
  • Your account belongs to you, not to your employer. You can download your data and delete your account at any time on the My account page.

4. Reviews

  • Only review workplaces where you worked, had a trial shift or applied, and only describe your own experience.
  • Not allowed: names or personal details of other people, threats, hate, harassment, advertising, fake or paid reviews, and manipulating your own or a competitor's workplace.
  • Every review is checked automatically, and by a person when needed, before it goes live. To protect anonymity, every review goes live 3 to 12 days after it is sent, on a random day and time.
  • Verification documents are only used to check the review and are deleted after the decision. Verified reviews count more.
  • Reviews that break these rules are rejected or removed. Any signed-in user can flag a review with the "Report" button.
  • Review text is machine-translated into other languages; the original is always available.

5. Employers

  • Employer access to a workplace is free. We check every access request by hand. Accepted proof, each together with a photo ID of the person: a signed-in business email on the company website's domain (free email providers don't count), a company registry extract or trade license naming the person as a director or owner, or a letter of authorization signed by the company's legal representative (our form). Giving false information or documents ends the access.
  • Employers can reply to reviews and dispute unverified reviews. Reviews cannot be deleted, hidden or bought.
  • Employers must not try to identify reviewers or put pressure on their staff because of a review.
  • Pro is a paid plan per location. It includes the RateThatJob Index for your website (image badge, iframe card, Top Rated seal, the score in the JSON API), early warnings and statistics.
  • Every location gets a 30-day free Pro trial, once. It starts automatically when the access request is approved.
  • After the trial, Pro is billed per location, monthly or yearly, at the prices on the Pricing page. Hungarian locations are billed in forints, all others in euros (the Pricing page shows both).
  • If you subscribe by card during the trial, the first payment is taken when the trial ends, never earlier.
  • A Pro subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. You can cancel any time in your dashboard (Subscription); Pro then stays on until the end of the period already paid and is not renewed.
  • If a renewal payment fails, we try again for a few days and let you know. If it stays unpaid, Pro ends with the last paid period.
  • Fees already paid are not refunded, including for the rest of a cancelled period, unless we charged you by mistake (for example twice) or this is required by law.
  • You can also ask for an invoice and pay by bank transfer; Pro is switched on once the payment arrives.
  • Without an active trial or paid Pro, embedded Index badges stay on your website but show that the Index is currently unavailable instead of the score, and still link to your public profile. Your public profile, reviews and scores on RateThatJob are always shown, whatever your plan.
  • RateThatJob Careers Hub (your jobs on your website) is free and doesn't need Pro. Job ads are priced per ad.

5a. Payments

  • Card payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store full card details. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment.
  • Job ads: the package fee is paid once, when you publish the ad, and the ad goes live once it's paid. Moving a live ad to a bigger package costs the difference. Job ad fees are not refunded once the ad has gone live; if it never goes live, we refund the payment on request.
  • You receive an invoice for every payment. Prices are shown before you pay.

6. Jobs and applications

  • Only the employer of a workplace can post jobs there, for real, open positions.
  • When you apply, your name, contact details and answers go to the employer. Your reviews stay anonymous.
  • Employer decisions (interview, hired, not selected) count towards the public ghosting meter.

7. Liability

The service is provided as is. Authors are responsible for the content they write. We accept reports of unlawful content at hello@ratethatjob.com and look into them without undue delay.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time and choose to keep your reviews as "Former member" or delete them too. We may suspend accounts for serious or repeated breaches of these rules.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. We announce significant changes on the site; changes apply from publication.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, as they apply to companies registered in the Meydan Free Zone, Dubai. Questions: hello@ratethatjob.com.
